I am a Deaf person, and it is often frustrating to find that a game, or movie is not subtitled, or closed captioned. I decided to start this blog, and document as much media as I can, because of an article I read the other day in Game Informer Magazine. Issue 176, page 32, Assasin's Creed Director Patrice Desilets said about subtitles in the game, "Subtitles are important, and I personally wanted them in the game,, but because of time, to include some features might have to get cut. For example, we are fully localized in six languages." This is disheartening to me, because I personally was looking forward to renting and experiencing Assasin's Creed. But the moment I learned it did not feature subtitles, I decided I will not rent the game at all.
Another media without subtitles or captions that I remeber and am reminded of every time I walk the video store aisle, is the DVD "Renaissance" featuring Daniel Craig as a voice actor. It is an animation, and seemed interesting, but when I realized it did not have subitles or captions...
